This can only be when you come into a right relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Our sinfulness makes it impossible to be able to have any intimate and permanent relationship with God. However, God made a way for us in Christ Jesus (John 14:6). Jesus took on Himself the punishment for our sins and makes it possible for us to know God’s forgiveness of our sins and be acceptable to God (2 Corinthians 5:21).
The steps to this are as below:
Acknowledge that you are a sinner before God.
Ask Him to forgive you of your sins.
Tell God that you accept Jesus and the sacrifice for your sins which He made by His death on the cross of Calvary.
Ask Jesus from today to enter into your heart and live His life in you.
Thank Him for doing so.
Then go on living all your life by Him and for Him for the rest of your days.
WHERE DO YOU BELONG?
Where do you belong? Are you a part of the house that God indwells or something else in dwells you? A sincere undertaking of the above stated process brings a man into a personal relationship with God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. You become a member of His family. God greatly desires that you belong to His family that He might dwell in you.
HOW TO BE FIT IN THE HOUSE
Coming into this relationship can be likened to a newly born baby into a family. He needs to remain under the cover and contact with others in the family for growth. First and foremost is a constant and consistent contact and communion with the Lord. This is as you keep talking to Him in personal prayer and listening to Him through His word as you also do not neglect our meeting together thereby encouraging one another (Heb.10:25). The two above plus a continuous sharing of His work of grace in your life will keep you strong and firm in following the Lord and functional in the household of God.
BENEFITS OF BELONGING TO GOD’S FAMILY
Belonging normally has its benefits; belonging to the family of God more especially. The benefits are not just many they are precious, indeed priceless. These include:
The gift of eternal life a basic benefit of belonging to God’s household is the gift of eternal life (Rom 6:23). This put in other word is the life of God shared with us as men thus qualifying or empowering us to become his sons (John 1:12). This makes us to be able to live an acceptable life before God. By this we become brand new persons inside (2Cor 5:17).

The gift of Eternal Life
A basic benefit of belonging to God’s household is the gift of eternal life (Rom. 6:23). This put in other word is the life of God shared with us as me thus qualifying or empowering us to become his sons (John 1:12). This makes us to be able to live an acceptable life before God. By this we become brand new persons inside (2 Cor. 5: 17)
Ambassadorial privileges and responsibilities
Another benefit is that belonging to God’s family brings to us the privilege of being Ambassadors for Christ (2Cor 5:20). We are made His representatives here on earth. We are to go to places for Him and represent His interest. We are made to be able work together with Him (1 Cor 3:9).
Heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus
Becoming heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ is another way in which our benefit for belonging to the family of God is expressed (Rom 8:17). We have access to God and the things of God. Jesus puts it this way: “the works that I do, shall you do also because I go unto the Father” (John 14:12).
A permanent place of abode with Him in Eternity
The assurance of a place with God in eternity is another inestimable benefit of belonging to this great family of God. Humans are created to live beyond this present world. After life here, there is still life. The place of abode for all men divides into two. There will be a place of torment, weeping and gnashing of teeth. It is called hell by the Bible. This is unfortunately where everyone who is not a member of God’s household goes Rev 21:8). The members of His household are entering into mansions not built with hands whose architect and builder is God (Heb 11:10). When Jesus was about to depart this world, He said He was going to prepare a place for us, in His Father’s house that has many mansions (John 14:2).
There is no gain comparable to belonging to this family, neither is there any loss comparable to not belonging to it. The benefits hold for both the present time and world, it also holds for eternity, the world to come. What a glorious gift!
May the blessings of the Lord richly rest upon you.
